🏛️ Subclass 485 – Second Post‑Higher Education Work (PHEW) Visa: Two‑Year Grant for Hobart Graduates

published on 01 October 2025

As of 12 September 2025, the Department of Home Affairs has expanded eligibility under the Subclass 485 (Temporary Graduate) visa’s Second Post‑Higher Education Work (PHEW) stream to include higher education graduates who studied and lived in Hobart or certain surrounding postcodes.

Previously, even if graduates from Hobart met the general requirements for the Second PHEW stream, those in Hobart or nearby regional areas were limited to a one‑year grant.

With this update, Hobart now joins other regional areas in being eligible for a two‑year Second 485 visa (subject to satisfying all other criteria).
