A Smooth Transition from Student Visa to Employer Sponsorship
Rocket & Ash Immigration Law recently assisted a Brazilian national in securing a Skills in Demand (Subclass 482) visa in the occupation of Supply and Distribution Manager (ANZSCO 133611).
This successful outcome highlights how international graduates can transition from temporary study arrangements into long-term employer-sponsored work opportunities in Australia.
The Applicant’s Background
The applicant was a Brazilian passport holder living in Australia on a Student Visa (Subclass 500). While studying, they received an employment opportunity in a role aligned with their skills and experience in supply chain and distribution management.
With the employer eager to retain the applicant in a critical position, sponsorship through the Subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa (Core Skills stream) became the ideal pathway.
The Visa Strategy
Rocket & Ash worked closely with both the applicant and the sponsoring employer to ensure the application met all legislative requirements, including:
- Correct nomination under ANZSCO 133611 – Supply and Distribution Manager
- Evidence that the position was genuine and aligned with business needs
- Demonstrating the applicant’s qualifications and relevant employment background
- Ensuring compliance with sponsorship obligations and visa conditions
The visa application was lodged on 20 November 2025.
The Outcome
The Department of Home Affairs approved the application, granting the applicant a Subclass 482 visa on 7 February 2026.
✅ Visa Granted: 7 February 2026
✅ Stream: Core Skills
✅ Occupation: Supply and Distribution Manager (133611)
✅ Processing Time: Approximately 11 weeks
✅ Visa Valid Until: 7 February 2029
✅ Travel Rights: Multiple entries
The applicant is now able to lawfully live and work in Australia for the sponsoring employer for the duration of the visa.
Why This Case Matters
This case is an excellent example of how international students can successfully move into employer sponsorship when:
- Their occupation is eligible
- A business is prepared to sponsor
- The application is carefully prepared with strong supporting evidence
With the right legal guidance, the transition from a Student Visa to a sponsored work visa can be smooth and highly effective.
